Mark M. McCarthy Attorney

“Mark McCarthy is an accomplished attorney based out of our Columbus office, specializing in employment law, workers’ compensation, and unemployment compensation. With extensive experience representing both state-funded and self-insured employers, Mark is well-versed in navigating the complex legal landscape of Ohio’s Bureau of Workers’ Compensation, the Industrial Commission, and the Unemployment Compensation Review Commission. His expertise extends to handling appeals in court.

Throughout his career, Mark has successfully defended employers across a spectrum of challenges, including personal injury claims, wrongful termination disputes, allegations of discrimination, and civil rights violations. He is adept at advising and guiding employers through the administrative processes involved in obtaining self-insurance, and he has a proven track record of representing self-insured employers before the Self-Insured Review Panel.

Before joining Ross, Brittain & Schonberg, LLP, Mark served for 12 years as an OF Counsel for several Law Firms in Columbus. Prior to that, he held the role of General Counsel & Director at The Frank Gates Companies for 15 years. In this capacity, he managed legal affairs for a national company specializing in third-party claims administration and insurance-related activities. Additionally, Mark served as the Chief Operating Officer for the Ohio Operations of The Frank Gates Service Company, where he represented over 12,000 Ohio employers in workers’ compensation and unemployment compensation matters.
